Welcome to Project Life Week 9!
Not a lot happened this week, and when I was going through my photos I didn't think I would have enough for a 2 page spread. When I opened my file, I had already filled in 5 spots last week as I finished up week 8, I was really grateful for that, and I would have forgotten to include those items if they weren't already there.

Here's What Happened this week:
- Stayed up late Saturday night to finish a school project that was over due! Oops!
- Booked my flight to brazil! It feels so much more real now that its booked.
- Made some business cards for myself
- Signed up for the colour me rad run a couple weeks ago and forgot to include it, but better late then never!
- And also started another book, "The Storyteller" by Jodi Picoult, it was amazing, I would recommend anyone read it!
Another week crossed of the list!

Here's what happened this week:
- Not sure if this was this week, or last week, but I had room to fit it in this week, the Pope announced his retirement, It was a big announcement so I think it's nice to include and look back on in the future. I got the Pope freebie here
- Got a job at target! Wohoo, cannot wait for the opening!
- Went to a Hockey game with Nevan!
- And watched the Oscars sunday night, when I won our family pool! I am always in last, so this year was a nice treat!
Welcome to project life weeks 5&6! I got a little behind, but I am now all caught up, and that's all thanks to digital! If this was paper, I would definitely still be behind! I am loving going digital more and more every week.
Some things I changed recently: I added a white boarder around each photo, I think it's a little cleaner this way, and a little more cohesive. See my previous posts to see how I did it before. I have now changed those layouts in my book, to keep it all consistent!
*** Also Disclaimer, the spread below shows the Canadian flag as a marijuana leaf, I in no way endorse this, or take part in those kinds of activities, one of my favorite singers just so happens to sing about it a lot and included it in his concert, and that's the only picture I have with his name and the stage.***

Here's what happened:
- Went to chapters for research: the best kind of research: DESIGN! I had to get some inspiration for both my magazine assignment and book assignment!
- The Eric Church concert was the highlight of the week basically!
- The next week was valentines day
- Also the canadian government discontinued the penny!
- I created a new logo for myself
- And one of my favorite pictures: Calgary at night, from the space station! Seriously how cool! (I got that pic from twitter, I am following Commander Hadfield, who is a Canadian astronaut on the space station right now, and he posts some really cool stuff! If you would like to follow him CLICK HERE!)
Project Life week 4 complete! I am finding it really easy this year to get the spreads done, and quickly. I edit all my photos and convert them to CMYK and 300dpi for printing purposes, and then just drag and drop them all in the template. Then I add text and embellishments etc. It is SO EASY! I don't have to worry about printing, and then cutting and assembling, once it's done it's done! I love not having to spend so much time on this anymore, but still get the same result!

Here's what happened this week:
- I know the photo of my mouth is a little obnoxious, but it was a big deal. After dealing with over 6 months of dentist appointments, my root canal is finally finished! And I can have a normal smile again!
- I also got a haircut this week! Hence the 4 photos of me in a row!
- Me and Nevan celebrated our 1-year on thursday the 24th, we went out for dinner and just spent time together.
- Also included is the song I am loving right now, "Some Nights" by Fun.
I would love to see other project life pages! So please share a link if you can!
Here is Project life week 1:
So I decided to change my format. I was struggling with the 8.5x11 size. Nothing was fitting properly, nothing looked right, and I was already resenting the project. HUGE FAIL. So I switched it up. I am now doing a 12x12 album, I got all the templates from Becky's site, and made them my own in InDesign. Then I placed all my pictures and journaling, and VOILA! Week One-out the window.

What happened this week:
- Went to Banff for the weekend with Nevan, where we took photos (of course!) and went snow tubing, on a gondola ride, and visited the Hot Springs.
- Made some new years resolutions, or goals, or things I want to do more of really, and less eating.
And that's about it. Banff was the highlight, and without it this week would have been basically nothing. I am already enjoying the digital side of this, being able to make whatever elements I want, and arrange and rearrange, and type everything and make it pretty! I think I'm going to like this project a lot this year.
Well i can't believe that i am staying on top of this project so well! I am finding out though that i am mentally and physically taking note of pictures i've taken through the week, and what i want to include in my album for that week. Which makes it easier at the end of the week when i print my photos, and put it all together.
What did i include this week? My scheduale for the winter semester, picture from the weekend, after going out with friends, new nail color, coffee on saturday morning, new songs on the ipod, my currently blog post, with the picture i paired with it, a quote that i'm loving right now as well as an explanation for it, and a tag from some new mitts i got for christmas!
I love this spread, and i was a little concerned about this week. Last week was EASY, there was a lot i could include, and i had lots of ideas. But this week i had no plan, and i had to make a conscious effort to figure out what i could include. And it was easier then i thought it would be!
I am loving Elise and Kelly's albums. They look great, and are giving me some ideas about what i can put in my album! I want to remember what Kelly did with hers, and how she included some labels directly on the photos for a quick explanation about what the photo is about. I am hoping to do that next week!
Well week one was a success! I got both my title page, and first layout complete! I am really happy with how it's looking so far, and yes i know that it's only 3 pages, but it's all flowing for now, so i'm excited to see what more pages will look like!
Here are some more pictures of my title page, they're a little clearer then the instagram one,
And here's the layout for the first week:
Here's what i included this week: a picture of me with the box, one was taken on photobooth on my mac, and i also decided to include the original instax as well, i just used some washi tape and colored cardstock. I included a portrait of me, i'm hoping to have one every week. I printed off my One Little Word, and used one of the 6x4 journalers to explain why i chose that word. I also got a wave of inspiration this week on the design side, so i wraped up my year on a 6x8 size document, i will share more on that later, and stuck it in there as well. I'm really happy i included that because i'm sure it will be something i will enjoy years from now. I also stuck a movie ticket in there from a movie me and Erinn saw earlier in the week.
Something else i love from this week is my Dear Me letter. It's a letter i wrote to myself a year from now, and some things i wish to accomplish a year from now.
As for journaling i kept it simple, i wrote whatever came to mind, and used the pictures to explain what was happening. I like the free flow from it, as well as the fact that it's my handwriting, not typed.
So thats a wrap on week one! Hoping to get week two done this saturday as well!
Let's talk about project life..... Again
So this will be my third or fourth attempt at this project, but I am determined to finish it, and actually follow through.
I just wanted to share my plan about what I'm going to do this year.
I have ordered the new clementine edition from Becky Higgins, I ordered the core kit and the design
A photo protectors. I have my own black binder sitting at home that I will use to put it all together. I just got my products in the mail this week! And i am excited to put it together and start this project!
Something that really clicked for me this year was watching Ali Edwards and Marcy Penner, and a couple other project lifers approaches to the project. They organizes their layouts in a weekly basis. This is a better fit for me because I really struggle with the picture a day approach, it gets really stressful and it is so hard to do while being in school as well. So I will be planning my layouts on a weekly basis, it will be easier for me to see the bigger picture, and organize photos, and I won't have to worry about having a picture for each day either.
One thing that is going to make it so much easier this time around is my iPhone, I got it in September and I have already taken over a 1000 photos with it. This will really make the project so much easier because i always carry it with me, and I won't have to worry about remembering to bring my camera. I am definitely expecting the majority of the photos in my album to come from my iPhone as well and I'm okay that, because it makes it that much easier!
I am also going to incorporate some instax, and instax mini photos into my album, as well as some Holga pictures too, or any other toy camera's i seem to collect over the year!
I am so excited to get started on this project! And I can't wait to share my ideas and layouts on here too!
